MassResistance Needs  Your Help                        Posted Aug. 20, 2008

MassResistance is leading an effort to force a statewide vote on the Legislature’s repeal of a 1913 law.   That repeal will make it legal for out-of-state same-sex couples to come to the Bay State to get married.

If you live in Massachusetts, they need help collecting signatures between now and mid-October.   From everywher, donations are needed to help this effort at MassResistance.org.   (The donation area at their site is down today, but should be back up again tomorrow).

California Education                                             Posted Aug. 13, 2008

The California Legislature has approved a bill that would require public schools to celebrate homosexuality, bisexuality, and transsexuality on the 22nd of May each year.  Randy Thomasson of the Campaign for Children and Families says “this will harm children as young as kindergarten.”  Call Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger at 916-445-2841 and urge him to veto AB 2567.

Thanks to all who prayed about the state of homeschooling in California.  The Second District Court of Appeals has ruled that parents have the right to home school their children, regardless of whether they have any teaching credentials.    Pray for the federal 9th Circuit as they hear the case regarding students who were rejected by the University of California because they were educated using textbooks from Christian sources.

Persecution in China                                           Updated Aug. 12, 2008

Some Christians in Beijing, China have recently been given a choice:  (1) Leave the area until after the Olympics, or (2) Go to jail.   Listen to our Aug. 11 program for details on how some protesting Christians from the United States were treated in Beijing last week.

Call President Bush at 202-456-1414 and thank him for speaking out for religious freedom.  Urge him to continue to act on the behalf of Chinese people who lack a voice to do so.

Call China’s embassy in Washington D.C. at 202-338-6688.  Ask to speak with the religious affairs office.  Express your concern about the arrest and imprisonment of Christians.  It can be good to mention a specific prisoner in your call.  This information can be found at www.prisoneralert.com.   At that site, you can also write to a prisoner – the software will translate it into Mandarin Chinese – and learn the latest on those being held captive.

Shi Wei Han, the owner of a bookshop located close to the Olympic village, has been arrested for a second time since in less than a year.   Open Doors USA has an online e-mail message drive calling for his release or at least proper treatment and a fair trial.  Look for “Hot Spot: China” at the website www.odusa.org

Boycott McDonalds                                             Updated Aug. 5, 2008

A number of pro-family organizations, led by the American Family Association, have called a boycott against McDonald’s.   It has chosen to place the full weight of their corporation into promoting the homosexual agenda, including same-sex “marriage.”  They are sponsoring pride parades that no child should ever see.   They have also contributed $20,000 to the National Gay & Lesbian Chamber of Commerce.  (The boycott is not about how they treat homosexual customers or employees).   More information can be found at www.boycottmcdonalds.com

If you are participating in the boycott, call McDonald’s corporate office at 800-244-6227 or 630-623-2000 as well as your local restaurant to tell them why.   Be polite but firm.  Express concern about their support of the National Gay & Lesbian Chamber of Commerce.  Say that you will not frequent any of their restaurants until you’ve read somewhere that they are pulling out of the cultural war and will remain neutral on it.

Marriage Amendment Battles                            Posted July 24, 2008

Three states (Arizona, California, and Florida) have marriage amendments on the ballot this fall.   In all three cases, it’s a vote of YES that will protect marriage as the unique union of one man and one woman.   The votes are expected to be very close - here are some steps to take:

  1. Do all you can to get people registered to vote at your church between now and the end of September.  Call other churches in your area to get involved, too. Hand out the forms, get people to fill them in, and then collect them for mailing.
  2. The campaigns to protect marriage need funds and more volunteer support.   Meet-up groups are being planned in local areas for grassroot action.  Here are the websites and phone numbers for each state to get involved:

Arizona          www.azformarriage.com

California      www.protectmarriage.org or .com        916-446-2956

Florida           www.yes2marriage.org                            407-251-1957

  1. Get your pastor to participate in the conference calls that are being held as a united effort between all three states. The next call is on Wed. July 30th at 1 PM ET / 10 AM PT and the website to get involved is www.protectmarriagesd.org.

Drill for Oil Here!                                                   Updated July 16, 2008

According to Craig R. Smith, co-author of Black Gold Stranglehold, we now have an estimate of 10 times as much in combined oil reserves in the U.S. (outer continental shelf, deep waters of the Gulf, and ANWR) than Saudi Arabia.  We probably have more natural resources and minerals than any other nation, but refuse to harvest most of them.   We can drill our way out of the problem and it wouldn’t necessarily take 5-10 years to do it.

Call your Congressman and Senators at 202-224-3121 and tell them to let private American companies to drill now!   More action steps can be found at www.oilsolution.org

Our 7/14 guest K.T. McFarland from Family Security Matters said to call, making these two points:  (1) Pass the legislation to extend tax rebates for people want to do alternative energy and (2) immediately lift the ban that’s on offshore drilling, new oil refineries, and nuclear power.

4 Power Questions on Evolution                           Posted July 8, 2008

Mike Riddle of Answers in Genesis was our guest on July 7.  Here are the four power questions that he recommends in a conversation with an evolutionist:

Where did the universe’s original matter come from?   How did life begin?   Where are all the supposed transitional fossils between the Precambrian and Cambrian periods?    Where did the dinosaurs come from?

As he illustrated, one or more of them can be an effective and strategic bridge for evangelism.  Answers in Genesis has a “4 Power Questions” DVD that includes a detailed presentation on this.  Better yet, consider inviting Mike Riddle to present a creation conference at your church or in your community.  Call (859) 727-2222 ext. 438 for details.

The resources mentioned by David Barton of WallBuilders on our July 4th program can be ordered from their website (www.wallbuilders.org) or by calling 1-800-8-REBUILD (1-800-873-2845).  You can also easily link to their website from our partner page.

Ellie Kay mentioned a number of money saving tips on July 2.  We have summarized these tips in a F2A Fact Sheet that can be found in the “Family” section at F2A.ORG.

The so-called “Fairness Doctrine”                     Updated June 30, 2008

Call your Congressional Representative and Senators at 202-224-3121 to oppose any attempt to bring back the “Fairness Doctrine.” Ask them to support the “Broadcasters Freedom Act” (HR 2905) introduced by Congressman Mike Pence.   As noted by William Murray on our June 30 program, it may be even more effective to call the District Office(s) of those who represent your area.  To get these numbers, check your local phone book or link to their websites from the Coast2Coast page for your state at F2A.

MRC Action has a petition that will be sent to Congress about this – We have a link in the Call2Action section at F2A.ORG.
